Do you let younger kids play with your pet?
Some times i don't like it when i bring my dog to places that have kids, like i have a 4 year old cousin i don't even let her go near my dog EVER! one time she told her mama if you could put a leash on her and she did and she just starts pulling on the leash really hard and the collar was tight. and sometimes some young children pull thier ears tail, and espeacilly when there babies some hold the a carry them which can bother them. Last summer i was walking my dogs and there was a lady sitting on the porch and called out "Hey! does that dog bite!? can my kids pet her!" and so i let them and OMG you have no idea what happened....poor thing. I just think that kids treat them like their toys and hopeless. my stupid ass cousin try to grab one of her sister's dog's eye ball and it got scratch and got infected...shes okay now.
My Dobermanns are typical of the breed in that they are naturally aloof with strangers, neutral in their behavior towards them & do seek out or welcome attention.
To my mind there is no good reason why I should allow children who are not part of my dog's pack to touch them {assuming they even know how to treat a dog with respect}, simply because the thought popped into their head that they wanted to pet the doggy.
I'm not in the business of indulging the whims of random strangers & still worse are parents who fail to teach their older children how to act safely around strange dogs & ensure younger children cannot rush up to dogs and attempt to pet them.
Unless I know an older child, then no, children can keep their hands to themselves & off my dogs.
