Can I convert a electric wall oven to gas?
I have a tried and true Tappan gas wall oven, the 24 inch variety, which nowadays is a rarity in the wall oven world. Only Frigidaire, Magic Chef, and a couple GE models are available in 24 inch.
I have a brand new Bosch microwave and cooktop and would like to keep the matching theme going. Only problem is everything is convection/electric combo. I can modify my cabinet opening to accept a 27 inch wall oven, but having an electrician run 220 to the other end of my house will probably be an arm and leg. I hear there are kits available. Do electirc ovens have hook ups to accept a flex hose gas line? Thanks!!
No, you cannot convert an electric oven to gas. There's a lot more to a gas range than the burners - you need controls, gas piping, safeties, regulator, etc.
The oven's chassis's are different too.
Since Bosch doesn't seem to make a 24" oven, you are going to have to modify the cabinet to accept a 27" oven, buy a different brand or run the electric.
