Whats the best thermometer to use on a 5 month old baby?
I have a digital in ear thermometer
a digital underarm/oral thermometer
and a forehead thermometer.
I was told that the in ear thermometer is innacurate in such small babies and the underarm would be more accurate.
Is this true?

A rectal thermometer is more accurate because it reads core temperature. Ear thermometers for babies under 6 months don't work correctly, also if there is a suspicion of an ear infection it doesn't work correctly. As for using one under the arm it is harder to get a correct temp because of the moving they will do. Use a rectal thermometer with a little bit of vaseline and it will work to give you the correct temp. As for a mouth thermometer in any child especially if they had something to drink in the few minutes before you are not going to get a correct temp either.
