Healthy Foods Can Contain Hidden Fats

These days we all are trying to eat healthy and drop the pounds. Even the most healthy or so called healthy foods, could contain hidden fats. That is why it is so important to read the labels and do research on what you are eating.

Researchers have been pushing fish as a healthy meal for some time now. The reason for that is fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and has many health benefits.

Although sushi seems to be a healthy selection, it really depends in what it contains and the type. Some sushi rolls actually contain unhealthy fats.

If you are going to have sushi as one of your healthy meals, stick with sashimi or basic sushi rolls, for example tuna rolls.

In regards to snacking, dried fruits are often said to be a good choice, but little may know they also may contain hidden calories due to the fact that many brands have sugar added to them. Stick with fresh fruit as much as possible.

Granola is known to be a good source of oats and it curbs your appetite, but it also contains added sugar when it is prepackaged. Once again, added sugars turn into more calories and fat, thus turning an enjoyable snack into a not so healthy one. Try making your own granola at home with oatmeal, honey and fruit.

Veggie burgers are another example of a food item that can seem extremely healthy, but not be so much. Although they are supposed to be a healthy item, they still contain more hidden fats than beef or turkey.

Granted they don't have the fat and cholesterol that a meat burger does, but they do have more calories when the dressing that holds the vegetables together and cheese is added. Just make sure to eat them in moderation.

To make sure what you are eating is good for you, read the labels ask questions and take note of what it contains.
