That Little Bit Of Hanging Skin Is Known As Acrochordon

Imagine the scenario you are bathing and you notice small bits of skin just hanging there. It may be under your armpit or on your eyelid or even on your neck.

Have you ever wondered what they are? Well the answer to that question is they are called skin tags or to give it its proper name Acrochordon. These irregular brown wrinkled bits of skin can be found almost anywhere on your body.

As well as being found under your armpit, on your neck or on your eyelids they mostly appear on the more sensitive parts of your body. Mainly skin tags appear wherever the skin has been rubbed either by more skin or by clothes on your body.

Some younger people can find skin tags on their bodies although it is mainly attributed to the older age or middle age group. They do not appear at birth as people tend to acquire skin tags as they grow.

If the activities of small children and toddlers create skin friction then they too could get skin tags. Don't be alarmed if you see your child with a new hanging piece, it probably has to do with this.

Many different types of people are subject to skin tags. They range from diabetics to overweight people and also pregnant women. The pregnant women are thought to get skin tags due to the hormonal changes that their bodies go through.

Skin tags are a benign tumor and even if you leave them untreated they have been proven not to cause any cancers. This is a constant source of worry with many people, but know that they should not be such a cause for concern in this regard. Although they are not painful, they may still be a source of irritation if they get repeatedly rubbed.

There have been some cases reported where the skin tag has got too big and popped. If you get a skin tag that grows quite large and starts to bleed you should contact a doctor. They can be very troublesome if they get infected.
